OPEN Forum 2022

We look forward to welcoming you to the second OPEN Forum; a networking event that brings together a wide range of stakeholders in the field in of accessibility on February 10, 2022. Our call for new practices is now open!

The first OPEN Forum took place in February 2019. Over 90 participants from six countries joined us for this one-day event, which brought together a range of stakeholders from the fields of media and cultural accessibility: researchers, trainers and translators as well as representatives of tech companies, media companies, cultural venues, service providers and broadcasters, users, user organizations, policy makers, NGOs, and many more. In 2019 the forum focused on the opportunities and challenges of technological innovation for accessibility services in the media and in various cultural sectors, giving stakeholders the opportunity to present their work through presentations and stands in an exhibition space. In 2022 the OPEN Forum will, once again, offer cultural and media-related organizations, research groups and companies a platform to present their latest innovative developments in media and cultural access services as well as opportunities for networking and forging new collaborations.

JOIN US: CALL FOR PRACTICES

The second OPEN Forum is entitled “Innovation for Access: Best practices” and invites cultural and media organizations, user organisations, access professionals, artists, practisearchers, research groups and companies active in the media and cultural landscape to share their latest innovative projects and best practices. The accessibility of culture and media has been gaining prominence at a rapid pace over the past decade under the influence of new policies and human rights developments. Media and cultural accessibility is a vibrant and dynamic domain that is driven by the innovative approaches and enthusiasm of its many stakeholders. Two key factors determining its current exponential growth are rapid state-of-the-art technological developments on the one hand, and creative or artistically inspired access solutions on the other hand. Since the two often go hand in hand, these developments are increasingly leading to close collaboration between content creators, artists, users, tech companies as well as access professionals. The OPEN Forum provides a platform to share case studies, innovative practices, new technologies, software and best practice examples or simply float new ideas, in interaction with like-minded and strongly motivated professionals and other stakeholders. We welcome 20-minute presentations and demos and offer ample space for stands in our exhibition space. The OPEN forum will stimulate you to share, network, collaborate and be inspired!
